In order to meet these objectives\, SECOTpurses the presentation of topics related to the specialty through the organization of annual congresses\, training courses and scientific meetings\, focusing on the disciplines that constitute or are related to the specialty\, stimulating relations with all Specialists and facilitating the exchange of their professional\, scientific and cultural experiences.\nSECOT is the largest COT society in Spain and is represented by the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EFORT).\nIt also establishes and maintains relationships with other homologous Societies and collaborates with various public and private institutions in all aspects related to our specialty.\nIn 1991\, The Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology is the SECOT Foundation\, created with the purpose of reinforcing the strategic line of the Society\, contributing in the stimulation of the research and teaching of the specialty\, as well as promoting the work of the Professionals who practice it.\nTo this end\, the Foundation focuses its purpose on Continuing Medical Education of all resident doctors and specialists in COT\, annually grants scholarships to carry out research projects\, grants and scholarships; Promote publications\, exhibitions and other cultural activities\, participating in the development of the activities of other entities that carry out activities coincident or complementary with those of the Foundation itself\, as well as any others that may be conducive to the realization of its own purpose.

SUMMARY:Diabetic Foot Study Group  (DFSG)
DESCRIPTION:The aim of the Diabetic Foot Study Group (DFSG) of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) is to promote an advancement of knowledge on all aspects of diabetic foot care. This is done through active co-operation and collaboration between endocrinologists\, diabetologists\, podiatrists\, specialist nurses\, orthopaedic and vascular surgeons and other specialists with an interest in caring for diabetic patients with foot problems. \nPrevious meetings have gathered around 300 participants. A majority of these aremembers of the Diabetic Foot Study Group. Usually\, 50-60 % of the participants are physicians\, representing most centres of excellence working within the area of diabetes in Europe. Even a number of centres from the USA\, India\, Russia and Australia are represented.\nTraditionally\, the conference is held in connection with the much larger conferences of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD). Consequently\, the impact of the DFSG reaches far beyond the DFSG participants\, as their recommendations influence all interested in the area of diabetes through the following EASD meeting.\nThis meeting gathers up to 18\,000 specialists.

SUMMARY:The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT)
DESCRIPTION:The EFORT Congress is running on an annual base. The scientific programme includes symposia (90 minute session) and instructional lectures (60 minute session) delivered by distinguished speakers from across Europe. Free papers\, e-posters\, workshops\, industrial symposia and technical exhibits will all feature. The Plenary Sessions (between 1.5 – 2 hours) are usually taking place during the morning on Wednesday – Friday. The congress language is English.\nControversial case discussions (90 minutes) and pro and con debates invite you actively to contribute and share your knowledge with colleagues from all around Europe. Participants of the ExMEx sessions (between 2-4 hours) can gain specialised expertise and share information with different opinion leaders on a specific topic in a group limited to 100 colleagues (a separate registration is necessary).\nFor the scientific programme we have successively increased collaboration with our specialty society partners. These sessions are embedded into the overall programme called: Guest Sessions. Along with the scientific exhibition\, our congresses cover the whole range of contemporary orthopaedics and traumatology issues in Europe. At each event we share scientific findings\, experience and participants gain a greater awareness of future trends.
