WHAT IS SECOT?

The Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (SECOT)
It is a scientific medical association that promotes the advancement of scientific knowledge and the central role of the Orthopedic Surgeon – Traumatologist with the aim of promoting, creating and communicating the knowledge of the locomotor apparatus to guarantee mobility, health and quality of life of patients .

The Society, founded on July 6, 1935 …

It aims to combine the interests of medical specialists to promote the development of the medical-surgical specialty of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, stimulating and contributing to their teaching, based on the ethical principles of Medicine and professional practice, and their research . In order to meet these objectives, SECOTpurses the presentation of topics related to the specialty through the organization of annual congresses, training courses and scientific meetings, focusing on the disciplines that constitute or are related to the specialty, stimulating relations with all Specialists and facilitating the exchange of their professional, scientific and cultural experiences.
SECOT is the largest COT society in Spain and is represented by the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EFORT).
It also establishes and maintains relationships with other homologous Societies and collaborates with various public and private institutions in all aspects related to our specialty.
In 1991, The Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology is the SECOT Foundation, created with the purpose of reinforcing the strategic line of the Society, contributing in the stimulation of the research and teaching of the specialty, as well as promoting the work of the Professionals who practice it.
To this end, the Foundation focuses its purpose on Continuing Medical Education of all resident doctors and specialists in COT, annually grants scholarships to carry out research projects, grants and scholarships; Promote publications, exhibitions and other cultural activities, participating in the development of the activities of other entities that carry out activities coincident or complementary with those of the Foundation itself, as well as any others that may be conducive to the realization of its own purpose.
